Entry and Exit

Is birthright an entry criterion into the family business?  Should there be an educational requirement?  Should younger generation family members enter the business right out of school or should they work elsewhere for a number of years? What impact will their entry have on others in the business- both family members and non-family members? To whom should they report?

When should dad or mom “let go?”   Must they ever retire?  What is the experience like for seniors?  How can the younger generation “take hold” if seniors are still present?
