Lights, Camera, Action! TCG Shoots Family Business Videos

Paul and David Karofsky have teamed up to create a series of family business videos that provide insight into the joys, pains and challenges of working in family businesses as well as how Transition Consulting Group can be a catalyst for change to help your family enterprise thrive and achieve competitive sustainability.

The videos feature Paul and David speaking individually and as a team on topics ranging from the changing dynamics of family business to generational differences in family businesses.

Each video highlights the specific challenges associated in working in the family business and how TCG helps clients to effectively address those challenges and develop solutions that meet the needs of the business and serve the family for future generations. You can view these videos on our website by clicking here or on YouTube.

TCG Gets it Write…

TCG has recently written articles for various family business publications including Family Business Magazine, Campden FB and the FFI Practitioner. The articles have focused on the issue of entitlement in the younger generation as well as governance inside the family business.

We encourage you to read our article titled ENTITLEMENT: Epidemic of Our Era, in the next issue of Family Business Magazine, which frames the issue, cause and solution to the ongoing challenge of entitlement in the next generation of family business owners and leaders.

Look for upcoming articles online at Campden FB including Case Studies in Good Governance, which looks at generational perspectives of the role board members play as well as governance structures to help guide the effectiveness of the organization.

In the meantime, members of the Family Firm Institute can read Entitlement on Steroids published in the March issue of the FFI Practitioner.

Northeastern & TCG Host Leadership Development Retreat

In January, Northeastern University and TCG hosted the fourth annual Leadership Development Retreat in Palm Beach, Florida.  Seventeen people from eight different family businesses attended the three day retreat facilitated by Paul Karofsky, Ted Clark and David Karofsky. The theme of the retreat was “When the Going Gets Tough” which featured sessions ranging from Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership to the Role of the Spouse in a Family Business: Dos and Don’ts. There were interactive “real” case studies on Board Membership and Working with Family Members in addition to goal setting exercises. Not to mention a little down time, too! The response to the retreat was overwhelmingly positive with the expectation that the fifth annual retreat will take place next year. Click here for more information.

So You’re in the Family Business…

Each issue, TCG will feature an article from the series “So You’re in the Family Business” which is a collection of short articles based on real happenings in real family businesses.  Individual and company names have been altered to respect privacy. The complete set of articles can be accessed here.
